
Let’s talk about Half Gold Carbon Fiber Heating Lamps
If you’re dealing with high-intensity heat and you need that heat to go exactly where you want it, these lamps are your best bet. Most people are used to standard quartz heaters, but we do things a bit differently here. We use a carbon fiber filament that pumps out shortwave infrared radiation. Now, you’ll see them called “Half Gold.” That’s just because we’ve coated the back half of the quartz tube in gold. Why the gold? Think of it as a mirror for heat. Instead of letting that energy bleed backward into your machine’s chassis—which is basically just wasting electricity—the gold bounces it all forward. It hits your workpiece with way more punch. You get a much tighter, more concentrated heat zone without having to crank up the wattage. The nuts and bolts Carbon fiber is a beast when it comes to thermal shock. Unlike tungsten, which can be a bit brittle, these filaments don’t just snap when you’re powering them on and off rapidly. We wrap them in high-temp quartz glass to keep everything sealed tight. As for the fit, we usually stick to standard lengths with R7s or Sk15 connectors. We did that on purpose. It means you can usually just pop these into most industrial ovens without having to rewire your entire setup. Where they actually work You’ll mostly find these in PET blowing or plastic shrink-wrapping. In those jobs, the goal is to hit that “sweet spot” temperature where the plastic softens, and you need to get there fast. But, a fair warning: that gold coating is a bit picky. If dust or oil builds up on the reflector, your heat distribution goes wonky and you’ll start seeing cold spots on your product.**Keep them clean.**It’s the only way to keep that reflection efficiency high. One last thing. Because these concentrate so much heat in one spot, don’t skimp on your cooling fans. If you don’t move enough air, you might find your connector housings melting during a long shift. And nobody wants that.
