Power, Heat, and the “Gotchas”

It saves you from a very expensive headache.

We use quartz glass because it doesn’t expand much when it gets hot, and it lets the infrared rays slide right through without soaking up the energy. Real-World Use (and Where Things Go Wrong)
You’ll see these all over PET blowing and curing lines. Because carbon filaments warm up way faster than ceramics, you can flick the power on and off more often. This makes it much easier to keep your temperatures locked in tight. But here’s the catch: quartz is fragile. If your machine vibrates, those tubes are going to burn out early. It’s frustrating, but it happens. My advice? Make sure your mounting brackets are designed to isolate the tubes from the chassis. Keep them steady, and they’ll last a lot longer.
